"Your Name Here and the Terrible, Horrible, Despicable, Unbelievable, Inconceivable, No Good, Very Bad Day"

Theme Passage:   2 Sam 23:20-21
video:   "The Ghost and the Darkness"
Do you run from lions or do you chase lions in your life?
Two lions attacked a camp of workers building a railroad in the early 1900's.  Lions from Sabo, Kenya - unique, different lions, they hunted down specific people
A Lion walked past a sleeping guard, he had a particular scent he was following.   The lion went into the tent, stepped over 2 people and chomped down on the skull of the third person.  He devoured the person in the camp.   The lions devoured 100 men in a 3 month period.
Watched a 2 minute clip of a lion chasing a man.
one lion was 9 feet, 8 inches;   Lions can grow to 500-600 pounds; they can run 65 mph
A lion can pick up a medium size car with 2 paws and flip it over

2 Sam 23:20-21
Spiritual challenge:   Are you a lion runner or a lion chaser?
the decisions you made yesterday in your life formed the character you have today;  the decisions make today determine your character tomorrow
All of us can think of some rough times we've had, days, weeks, years
God can change your destiny
He is building your spiritual resume
Benaiah jumps in a pit on a snowy day with a lion -- who know what he was thinking when he jumped into the pit
God changes our character to build our destiny
everything that occurs is either brought by God and or allowed by God
We give up, don't fight anymore;  we think God is against us
What is the lion we are chasing?
Is it the finances?  health?  put your faith in God and do something bigger for God
It's not later;  it's right now
David appointed Benaniah as his bodyguard in the next verse
David went through a pile of resumes to choose his bodyguard
God is putting you in challenges today to prepare you for tomorrow
The decisions you make today are going to determine your destiny tomorrow
for some of us - the closest we've seen to a real lion is a stuffed animal, a lion at the Asheboro zoo, or in Lion King
but we all have lions in our lives
Ron wants to see a congregation of Benaiahs.
