What is Bible baptism?

            John 3:1-7 – a new birth of water and the Spirit

            Acts 8:36-39 – being immersed in water

            Ephesians 4:4-6 – a one-time event

 

Who is a candidate for baptism?

            Mark 16:16 – for adults who believe in Christ

            Acts 2:38 – adults who have repented of their sins

            Matthew 28:18-12 – adults who have decided to follow Jesus

 

What happens when we are baptized?

            Romans 6:3-4 – we share in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection

            Acts 22:16 – our sins are washed away

            Acts 2:38-40 – we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

            I Corinthians 12:13 – we are added to the Body of Christ, the church

 

Are we saved by faith or baptism?

            I Peter 3:21 – saved by baptism

            Colossians 2:12 – baptism is an act of faith

            Gal. 3:26-29 – faith in Christ and baptism go together
