I. The Word of God

Main Point: The Bible is the actual word of God and the standard for how we should live our lives.

James 1:22-25

· We must obey and not simply listen to the word of God.

· Do not deceive yourself by forgetting what the Bible says.

· Look intently into God’s word and your life will be blessed.

Psalm 119:1-4, 9-11

· Blessed are the people who follow the Bible.

· Seek God with all of your heart when you read the Bible.

· Fully obey the Bible; don’t be halfhearted.

· We can stay pure by living according to the word, by seeking God with all of our heart and by hiding the word or meditating on it in our heart.

Proverbs 30:5-6

· Every word of God is flawless.

· God is our shield and protection.

· Do not add to his words or God will rebuke you and prove you to be a liar.

2 Timothy 4:1-4

· God is our judge; therefore preach the word always.

· Be prepared, patient and careful as you teach the Bible.

· Men will not accept sound doctrine because it’s not what they want to hear.

· Don’t turn away from truth.

John 14:15

· Love for Jesus is obedience to His word.
