II. The Cross and Grace

Main Point: Through the cross we see God’s love for us in sending his only son to die for the forgiveness of our sins.

1 Corinthians 1:18

· The message of the cross is foolish to some, but to those who believe it is the power of God to save.

Romans 5:6-8

· When we were powerless and controlled by sin, Christ died for us.

· This is ultimate love and grace.

· Christ died for us when we did not deserve it.

Isaiah 52:14-53:12

· The cross shows God’s grace, suffering, love and forgiveness for all of us

Matthew 27:27-31

Ephesians 2:8-9

· We are saved by grace through faith, which is the gift of God, namely Jesus Christ.

· Though our works cannot save us, we were created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

Titus 2:11-14

· The grace of God brings salvation and teaches us to say no to sin and to live a godly life.
