V.      Discipleship

Main Point:  Jesus said true disciples are those who hold to his teachings (John 8:31-32).

Mark 1:16-18

·        Jesus calls the first disciples.

·        Disciples are followers of Jesus Christ and who are willing to learn to be fishers of men.

·        Disciples put God first in their lives (Matthew 6:33)

Luke 9:23-26

·        Disciples deny themselves, pick up their cross daily and follow after Jesus.

·        Disciples give up their lives for Christ.

·        Disciples strive not to be ashamed of Jesus.

John 13:34-35

·        Disciples of Jesus are known by others for their love for one another.

1 John 4:16-21

·        God is love and whoever lives in love lives in God.

·        Perfect love drives out fear.

·        We love because he first loved us.

·        If we say we love God but hate our brother, we are liars.

Matthew 28:18-20

·        Jesus commands us to go and make disciples.

·        We as disciples must be taught to obey the commands of God.

·        We can teach others through our one another relationships.  (Examples: John 13:34, Romans 12:10, Romans 15:14, 1 Corinthians 12:25, Colossians 3:16, etc.)
