Rick Maule
Col 1:13 -14
Gayle Dubowski was a sister at NIU killed last week in the shooting (one of the five killed). Her parents, Joe and Laurel, are disciples in the Chicago church.
Also, John Trammel is doing a MS collection for 3/15.
CT Chu - financial report
These are notes from his powerpoint presentation:
Leadership Group of the Charlotte Church is Ron and the 3 Elders (Rick, Frank and Mike)
Deacons -- worship, benevolence, facilities, campus, teens, kingdom kids
Board of Directors includes Chip Tanner - communications; Ad Brown - facilities; Bill Nork - compensation; Benevolence is now called Church and Community Needs - Gail Chauncey
We need to learn to serve God with money
We did well in balancing the budget last year -- $952,000 income, $951,000 expenses (not including depreciation)
membership & giving -- 2005 - 2007 has leveled off around $35 a member
Per member giving for missions has increased:
2004 - $201
2005 - $232
2006 - $247
2007 - $263
For current members -- weekly contribution only
32 are on automatic draft weekly
Contribution analysis
# weeks # members % of total
1-11 116 26%
12-20 70 16%
21-30 92 21%
31-40 71 16%
41-52 94 21%
TOTAL 443 100%
If someone gives only once a month - they would be in the 12 week figure.
Members that gave all 52 weeks:
41 in 2007; 28 in 2006; 24 in 2005 (so this is good, it's increasing)
Members that gave more than 26 weeks of the year:
47% in 2007; 53% in 2006; 57% in 2005 (this is not good, decreasing)
Members that gave less than 12 times during the year:
26% in 2007; 23% in 2006; 20% in 2005 (again, not good as more are giving less)
BIG PROBLEM -- NSF Checks
Returned Make-Ups
$ # $ #
2003 ($3,957) 66 $238 4
2004 ($2,224) 33 $278 4
2005 ($2,497) 32 $785 5
2006 ($1,538) 30 $150 4
2007 ($2,768) 44 $291 2
as disciples, it is so important for us to be convicted of this -- integrity, reliability
writing a NSF check is a felon
we should not be doing this as a disciple
they are aware of only 2 people making up their NSF check in 2007 out of 44 checks!!!
if this applies, please repent
2007 Missions
$125,318 collected
in 2007, $25,000 sent to East Africa
in 2008, $50,000 has been sent to East Africa and another $35,000 will be sent later this year
Cash on hand
$1,000,744
$654,975 is restricted for facilities
$100,000 is restricted for missions, adoption, benevolence
leaves $200,000 for operating expenses
We received an unqualified statement from the auditors for 2007 (this is good)
2008 Budget

Other Ministries 42% $436,203
Campus/Youth Ministries 20% $202,664
Facilities 14% $141,563

Benevolence 2% $24,000

TOTAL $988,138

$110,000 goal -- allocated to E. Africa
$15,318 is local missions; as approved by leadership
The Administration reports to the Board
CT Chu on Administration and Board -- he excludes himself from decisions affecting himself
Each board member signs a conflict of interest form
RON DRABOT
10,000 Disciples in Africa in 40 nations
98 churches planted in the last few years
What Ron loves about Charlotte:
1) We've given 1.8 million to missions since 2000; missions has increase the last 4 years
2) We give to the poor - 3% of regular budget; $250,000 given to HOPE; $139,400 benevolence and poor
3) A congregation of faithful disciples that have persevered for more than ten years. We plan to make it to the end.
4) Vibrant, exciting teen ministry. 18 teenagers baptized in 2007. 25 teens - goal this year. Corrie and Steph have been amazing.
12 senior disciples - 11 are going to Charlotte campus ministries
Middle school ministry
growing campus ministry - 7 baptized last semester; groups led by underclassmen - taking on leadership
Corrie and Steph unifying the SE teens -- annual New Year's Eve Party; starting Kingdom Prom for SE
5) Spiritual Singles ministry - in a transition time
Sam & Bruno taking over the ministry
Hazel got to share at the Festival of Faith
Gail Chauncey - all she does
6) Married Ministry -- the backbone of our giving ministry
a multitude of families where all of the families are disciples now
7) Latino ministry -- already had conversions - Bernando and Minerva
8) Charlotte is growing again -- grew 11%, baptizing 10% over 500 members
goal for 2008 is 92 members - the largest the Charlotte Church has ever been
Challenges:
1) Ecc 5 -- honor your vow
"Jesus is Lord"
honor your vow to Jesus in every area of your life
give from the heart, choose to sacrifice
make God the 1st priority in your life
2) Meeting in regions
We want to be able to reach out to the communities we live in
We need to get to the people -- NE; NW and South, but so many communities within those regions
3) Singles Ministry -- Sam and Bruno leading now along with the campus ministry
severance package to the Hamiltons
Don't know if we will hire additional staff or lead from people within later in the year as money becomes available
4) Missions contribution
$110,000 to East Africa
$15,348 domestic missions (Asheville?) or international
5) Sam the only full-time woman on staff, Lavonia and Steph moved to full-time, Mary Nell to 3/4 time
6) Asheville is not a church planting -- 4 couples moved there and started meeting
We need to pray that it becomes a church planting
We've gone some in 2007 as a house church meeting
In 2008, committed to going once a month
They live 30 to 45 minutes apart, not ideal, need to build a base of disciples
Corrie and Stef organizing services in Asheville, the 3rd Sunday of each month
USA Today -- 18-29 year olds 65% 1st priority in life is wealth and fame
"Slouching Towards Gomorrah" written by a federal court judge - self-centeredness and personal rights have led us to this
Luke 9 obey God, deny self and take up cross
Phil 2
Be a disciple in your heart
take care of one another
strive to make disciples
shepherd one another
invest your heart into serving in the Charlotte Church (here's where I've invested in the Charlotte Church _____________________)
June 1944 Battle of Normandy began - 53,000 laid their lives down
9,387 Omaha Beach grave markers - they gave their lives, we don't know their names but we enjoy the freedom
They were valuable in what they did to serve our country
John 9:3
