2023 MLK Day of Service

This year's MLK Day of Service will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 9:00AM - 1:00PM, at the Charlotte Church Building, 2200 Ashley Road. The doors will open at 8:30AM. It is an opportunity to serve in our community to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year we will have the opportunity to participate in service projects conducted at the church building that meet the needs of neighbors in our community. These are family friendly projects for 3rd grade and up. These are the ways you will be able to help:

1) Help prepare 100 lunch bags for the Giles Emergency Men's Shelter

2) Help will assemble personal care packages for the participants that come through the Opportunity house program. Opportunity house strives to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and those who have recently been released from incarceration.

3) Help create flashcards and bookmarks for students in need that will be distributed through Classroom Central.

4) We will be putting together housewarming packages for the Harvest center families which contain the kitchen household items they need to get started.

Also during the month of January, we want to encourage you to host a "Sunday Supper" in honor of Dr. King. Please take that time to break some bread with a someone from a different culture than yourself. Learn something new about each other and have a wonderful time of fun and deep fellowship.

Dates: 1/14/2023 - 1/14/2023
